GEORGIA DRIVER LICENSE REQUIREMENTS AT-A-GLANCE: • Minimum age for Learner Permit 15 years old • Have a Georgia DDS Certificate of Attendance form that is signed and notarized from your school • Pass an eye test • Learner’s Permit holding period - twelve months and one day • Take the ADAP course (Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program) • Take the ONLINE 30 Hour Driver Education Course • Take 6 Hour Behind-The-Wheel Instructor Lead Course with a parent/guardian to supervise a minimum of 20 additional practice hours OR • Parent/guardian supervised driving minimum of 40 hours including 6 at night (as per DDS Parent/Teen Driving Guide • Minimum Age for Driver License 16 years - Class D • Pass a Range and Road Test • Unsupervised driving rules: Licensed minors may not drive between midnight and 6 a.m. • Passenger rules: For the first 6 months of being licensed, minor may only carry immediate family members. After 6 months minor may carry 1 non-relative passenger under 21. After 1 year minor may carry 3 non-relative passengers under 21 |
